Several years back a friend gifted us with automatic salt and pepper grinders. What an eye opener and game changer in seasoning meals! We loved them so much that when they finally bit the dust, we replaced them with another set. Unfortunately, I dropped one of the mills. Therefore, we needed to purchase a new set. The Electric Gravity Salt and Pepper Grinder set is everything you'd hope for in an electric grinder-easy to fill, easy to hold, adjustable grind settings... plus, a light that comes on as you grind so you can actually see the amount that is being added to your food! To use, simply turn the grinder upside down and VOILA you're up and grinding! Here's the slight problem for me, it comes out really, really fast. I'm not much of a salter, so it kind of freaks me out to have it speeding out. The learning curve for us has been to just slightly tip it to get the grinder going rather than turning it completely over. Hence, my 4 star rating rather than a 5.EDIT: Himalayan salt? Be careful. One of my grinders jammed with Himalayan Pink Salt, made a loud popping sound, and never worked again. 5 stars for the vendor who replaced it within a few days after I emailed them. Pepper grinding, no problem. Peppercorns are round and regardless of the grind you set they will tumble against the gears and grind just fine. Himalayan Pink Salt, however, is various sized cubes and will jam the unit very quickly. The solution, I think, and the one that seems to work with the replacement unit, is to set it and the finest grind and leave it there. That way the salt cubes cannot get into the mechanism to jam it. Good grinders so far but and for the price I won't complain. I just wonder how long they will last. Leaving my rating at 3 stars for the grinders but will give 5 stars for the vendor.I am not sure what all of the 4 and 5 star reviews are all about. Pepper and salt grinders. That’s all. I just got them, loaded them up and tried them out. They do grind both salt and pepper but definitely do not like Himalayan Pink Salt. It will jam frequently and until it is cleared will not run, Pepper is okay, but on both the grind is quite inconsistent. They work but you will wait a bit until you get enough pepper to make a difference. I’ll keep them and use them until I decide they just aren’t worth it and then I’ll simply trash them. At $22 for two it won’t me a big loss and maybe they will improve. The gravity feature is great, just tip and let it grind. The pieces coming out are very uniform, I have mine set on the fine setting and on occasion you might get a bigger piece that pops out but it stays pretty consistent in its uniformity.I only have 1 gripe about this grinder and that is it is very difficult for me to get the bottom jar off so that I can fill it with peppercorns. In fact, I have to take a battery out, turn it upside down and still struggle to get it to loosen up. If it wasn't for this one issue, 5 stars all the way. I put pepper on everything, I have gone through a full container of peppercorns 4 times now in 4 months and these are nice-sized containers. I am still on the original batteries I put into the device when I purchased it so the battery life is really good.I recommend this grinder but just note, that getting the cup off to fill can be a pain.I really like this thing, though the top of mine broke off after a few uses... The sellers, however, replaced it immediately (and made it super easy)! Will update if there are further problems but thus far I'd say give it a try, if you don't like it you can return it and their customer service is on point :)I received this grinder around mid-June and about 6 weeks later it stopped working. I put in new batteries and it still doesn’t work for long. I have tried taking off the cover and cleaning but that doesn’t help. If I bang it on the counter a few times it will work for another short time. Any suggestions on how to make it work correctly? BTW I’ve had no problem with the salt shaker I purchased previously. My wife sometimes struggled to have dinner ready when I got home. These grinders compliment her kitchen decor and allow her to perfectly season my dinner. No more complaints about over or under seasoned food. They are easy to use and keep her hands ready to go to wash the dishes when I am done eating. She used to get tired cranking the manual grinders and sometimes didn't have the strength left to thoroughly scrub the dishes. I call this money well spent and a win for both of us.This little pepper grinder was super easy to set up, pop in the batteries, some peppercorns and you are good to go.It works as described only if you want a lot of pepper you have to straighten the grinder and tip it again. My husband doesn’t like that you can’t change the coarseness of the grounds, but that doesn’t bother me. I’m just happy to not be breaking my wrist on sticking pepper grinders that I have to grind myself.Welcome to lazy town!! lolBought as a gift but was told one of the grinders wasn’t working. Didn’t hear back if she got it working again.Overall a good product. Ease of using it and it helps that you just need 1 hand to operate. The only downside is that it operates via gravity, and the moment you tilt down it will start grinding which means less control as well. The salt and pepper will also tend to get stuck at the grinding area which you have to brush it off that could means to some wastage as well.Sent me a used product ( there was salt and pepper dust in the glass jars ) on top of that, one of the grinders does not work. Definitely not happy with the product or the company. Already talked to Amazon customer service. Sending back for refund.I already have one of these for a salt mill and as my pepper grinder stopped grinding I decided to purchase a pepper grinder to match the salt mill, I've had the salt mill for several years and only required to replace the batteries so it wasn't a difficult decision in purchasing the same again.Received the product today and tested it out. It doesn’t grind at all! A few specks of salt will come out after holding it upside down for a minute. That’s barely enough for the time spent holding it, especially when the grinder is so heavy with its 6 AA batteries.Poorly assembled. Button on top does not disengage the grind function. It sticks
